They enhance the look of your eyes by adding individual ‘lashes’ to your own existing lashes. These new lashes are dark enough to create a beautiful frame for your eyes without needing any mascara. An average full set adds around 100 ‘silk’ or ‘mink’ lashes to each of your eyes. Each new lash is glued to an existing eyelash with a special, strong, long-lasting glue – one at a time. It usually takes 90 minutes to apply a set of eyelash extensions the first time.
Eyelash extensions are added to your upper lashes. Tinting can darken your bottom lashes to enhance them. Your lash technician will apply a very low adhesive tape to your bottom lashes to prevent gluing your upper lashes to your bottom ones. Different length extensions are used at the ends and in the middle of your eyes. Talk to your lash technician about the length and look you prefer before she starts. How long you want your new eyelashes to be is up to you. You can go for a very natural look or get longer lashes with a lot of glam.
Our eyelash technicians are very well-trained and particular about the work they do. There are right ways and wrong ways to apply extensions. Lash Spa lash technicians are well-trained and focus on applying your new eyelash extensions so that lash extensions are evenly distributed along your lash line
You should leave the Lash Spa with a full set of new extensions, ready to go out on the town. There is no downtime or adjustment period after your extensions are applied.
Eyelash extensions last as long as your natural eyelashes do – about 3 weeks. This is a ‘normal’ growth cycle for lashes: they grow in and fall out about every 3 weeks. So do expect to have to touch up your extensions, to fill in any gaps left by natural lashes that have fallen out by attaching a new extension to a new natural lash that is growing in. Touch-ups are typically every 2-3 weeks, and some come once a week for always perfect lashes.
Always treat them delicately, and do not use oil-based remover or cleansers. You can wash your extensions after letting the glue dry for 24 hours. Waiting until the glue has completely dried will create a very strong bond between your natural lash and the extension. After that, go about your normal cleansing and makeup routines without fear that the lashes will come unglued. Although mascara isn’t necessary with eyelash extensions, it can be applied. Use a water-based mascara and water-based makeup removers.
Your Lash Spa eyelash extension technician can provide you with a clean, new ‘eyelash wand’ to separate and straighten your new extensions after bathing or swimming. Otherwise, eyelash extensions behave exactly like your own lashes so just enjoy the freedom they provide you!
Expect to spend a minimum of an hour and a half for a full set and touchups, Mini sets and Lite Fill touchups are usually about 30-35 minutes.
